We can be a little flexible on these times if you give us advanced notice.
Can you supply a cot?
Yes we can supply a travel cot. There is space in all the bedrooms to accommodate a cot but Hannah Caves or Harold Furness rooms are probably better suited as they have much more floor space available.
Where can I shop for food and drink?
Towcester has a Waitrose, Tesco and an Aldi all within a 10-minute walk of The Wheatsheaf. They all have ample free parking if you prefer to drive. Alternatively, there is a small Co-op store located in the town square a couple of minutes walk heading south on the A5.
Are there any pubs close by?
Yes. The Saracens Head is located pretty much diagonally opposite The Wheatsheaf, while The Watling Street Village, The Brave Old Oak and The Plough are also a few minutes walk away on the town square. They all serve food and The Plough is particularly famed for its pies! If you are looking for real ale and locally brewed beer try Towcester Mill Brewery located next to The Watermeadows and church.
Can you recommend a good local restaurant?
DNA Steak & Grill located only a short walk away cannot be recommended highly enough. The food is awesome and the service can’t be faulted. See https://dnasteakandgrill.co.uk
Ten Hands Bakehouse cafe is a wonderful place to eat breakfast, brunch or lunch. Be sure to book as it is often full, particularly on a Sunday morning! Can you recommend a taxi service?
Zoom Taxis at +441327617024 are reliable and are known for their reasonable rates. Uber is now also available in Towcester.
Is there much for the kids to do?

Can I cook a roast dinner at The Wheatsheaf?
Yes! We have a top-of-the-range falcon range cooker with a 5 ring gas hob. A microwave oven, food mixer, Yorkshire pudding tins, sieve, chopping boards and even a potato peeler. The Wheatsheaf is truly a self catering townhouse!
Where to find us?
The Wheatsheaf is situated opposite the fire station in Towcester.
If you are travelling via the M1 you will approach Towcester on the A43. At the first roundabout turn left onto the A5. You will travel south on the A5 passing Aldi on your right, a tyre fitting centre on your left. The Wheatsheaf is located on the left-hand side of the main street before the traffic lights after you have passed the police station on your right and is situated diagonally opposite the fire station. The Wheatsheaf has a stone facade and a large archway under which you can park. Alternatively, there are parking spaces on the roadside or adjacent to the fire station.
If you are travelling via the M40 you will approach Towcester on the A43. At the first roundabout take the 3rd exit into Towcester. At the second roundabout go straight on taking the 3rd exit. Continue straight on until you reach the traffic lights. Turn left at the lights and a few houses up the Watling Street you will see The Wheatsheaf on your right, a building with a stone facade and a large archway under which you can park. Alternatively park on the roadside or the parking spaces adjacent to the fire station.
If you are travelling north on the A5 towards Towcester from Milton Keynes. As you approach Towcester continue straight on through the town until you reach the main traffic lights (not the pelican crossing in the centre). Go through the lights and the Wheatsheaf is located on the right hand side of the road before you get to the fire station on your left. The Wheatsheaf has a stone facade and a large archway under which you can park. Alternatively, park on the roadside or in the parking spaces adjacent to the fire station.
Do you supply towels?
Yes! Each room has its own set of fluffy white luxurious cotton towels for your comfort.
Are Toiletries provided
Yes. Each bathroom has its own body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Loo rolls and detergent for the washing machine / dishwasher are also provided.
Where can I find my Hosts
Your hosts Gail and Andrew live next door and will be close at hand should you require any help or assistance.
Is smoking allowed
No smoking is not allowed in the house.
Is parking available
Yes there is enough space under the arch for off road parking for 2 cars. Any further cars could park on the road adjacent or opposite The Wheatsheaf and there is a public carpark a stones throw from the property which is free at weekends and weeknights. Cars must vacate the carpark by 12 noon during weekdays.
Where do I put the rubbish
For short term guests rubbish can be left outside the back door. A large dustbin is located in the private yard behind the Wheatsheaf if required.
Is the fireplace operational
The fireplace is in the lounge downstairs is operational and can be used in the winter. The fireguard must be used at all times and the fire must not be left unaccompanied at any time.

Do you have a coffee machine.
Yes. It is a Nespresso machine. We do provide some coffee pods but we would recommend you bring some along or you can purchase them locally if required.
Is the property easily accessible
The property is on the main road and parking is available right next to the property’s door. However the property does have steep stairs (with a bannister) which some people might find difficult. A sofa bed in the downstairs lounge and a downstairs loo could be utilised if climbing stairs is impossible.
